To preface, I'm an atheist and I love to research random crap in my free time. These past few weeks it's the dharmic religions.
While I could go on and on about the various connections between psychadelic experiences and the 4 dharmic religions, Sikhism's concept of birth, death and the afterlife stood out to me.
Basically, Sikhs believe that all living things share a singular soul, and life on this planet is metaphorically small droplets parted from a vast ocean that is the one univeral soul known as Wahehuru. They believe that when humans transcend the cycle of reincarnation, the droplet that is their soul becomes one with Waheguru, and is formless, blissful, and eternal.
To me, this sounds very similar to what people describe when they have spiritual breakthroughs while on psychadelics. Especially the idea that we are all connected by some unifying life force- it seems pretty universal for people who have spiritual experiences on psychadelics. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the founder of the religion, Guru Manak was inspired by psychadelic experiences, especially since drugs have always been popular and in some cases, sacred, throughout much of South Asian history.
