Hi everyone!
Some of you may know that I do not work in the US as do many other users here. I make a point of prefacing this regularly to avoid ambiguity. I love the various topics posted but often find some responses to be very US-centric, or at least presuming the US to be the default. This is to be expected and not a criticism, of course. Mental health policies vary wildly between countries and even states. For this reason I'd like to suggest that posts and comments specify country/state when relevant so as to a) promote diversity b) acknowledge that practices (and opinions) can be different c) help people who have specific queries get the most relevant responses (edit: especially for studies! I have no idea what a PGY-# is, for instance!)
An extension of this rule would be to also use international nonpropriety names for all medication (except if very specific). Even if some are very obvious like Risperdal and Clozaril, having to Google every name is a bit silly for people who prescribe mostly generics. I bet a lot of you don't know what Leponex and Seroplex are - spoiler, it's clozapine and escitalopram respectively.
This could also be extended to r/AskPsychiatry - so that people seeking help know that some of us will not be able to provide an appropriate answer.
