A year ago I found a lengthy article describing the history of Dissociative Identity Disorder and its origins in the DSM-IV as an evolution of Multiple Personality Disorder. It described the ridiculous antics of Dr. Bennett Braun and how the lead author of the DSM-IV had to politically manage the likes of Dr. Braun and his colleagues vs those who (I think rightfully) felt that MPD had no place in future revisions of the DSM; as well as how the compromise between these two factions resulted in the DID diagnosis and criteria.
I have been searching for that same article for the past year to share with residents and students and I cannot find it anywhere. Does this article sound familiar with anyone else? Am I taking crazy pills? Did I get too drunk and make this up in my head?
Any help finding this article would be greatly appreciated.
