Hello all,
I am working on a QI proposal to expand our formulary medications at our inpatient psychiatric facility. My aim is to incomperate new psychotropic medications into our formulary. For example, we do not stock Viibryd, Trintellix, Rexuliti, Vraylar, Saphris, etc.
Do any of you have any good resources/studies of incoperating these newer(ish) medications into our fomular? The problem is, when a patient is admitted and they are prescribed Vraylar, for example, they must supply their own dose, or they will not be able to receive this.
Despite these medications being expensive, I do believe it would be beneficial to have them available - at least for those who are already taking a medication we do not carry.
Ultimately, I'm just seeing if anyone has read anything recently regarding this topic or if any of you have insight that may be beneficial to implement this QI.
I've tried looking for a systematic review regarding the topic, but not much luck. Looking for something that has pros, cons, and barriers/facilitators. I'd appreciate any advice or input.
Thanks in advance!
