I'm doing my Psychiatry residency at the moment and I'm wondering what people around the world outside of my country deal with patients with suicide ideations and about breaching confidentiality.
How do you deal with the potential loss of trust that comes when alerting emergency services?
I live in a country where such a service is not very prevelant so we have to resort to alerting the family when we suspect an immediate risk which because of the stigma makes the situation much more complicated and might deter the patient from ever seeking help again.
