Redditors with depression and anxiety: Have you been helped by the use of psychedelics?

I'm doing research on the potential of psychedelics in dealing with certain mental illnesses like depression, social anxiety, bipolar disorder etc. and I was curious if any of you have been helped tremendously by psychedelics? Did you notice any improvements and more importantly did you understand the true reason as to why you were suffering from these illnesses?
