Post Body

Hey there, I was on here about a year ago and we had some great discussions. Im Amanda Schendel, Founder & Church Leader.

The Buena Vida Retreats has been hosting week-long therapeutic psilocybin retreats in Mexico since 2019. We've safely lead over 1,000 guests through the process, which is highly community driven and supportive of native North and South American shamanic traditions.

In May, 2024 we opened our doors to The Buena Vida Sanctuary, a 501(c)3 church space in Joshua Tree, CA. We are offering long-weekend retreats, free community events for members and more. Our goal is to use sacred earth medicine as our sacrament, where each and every human has the right to connect to the divine directly.

I absolutely believe everything contains spirit. I believe they inhabit a different dimension. and when we consume these substances that is what we are entering. also, god lol.

I agree with everything you said. especially in the last paragraph.

I have experience of psychiatric care in the UK and you pretty much hit the nail on the head. fortunately in the UK we are in the 3rd stage clinical trials of psilocybin, MDMA and 5-meo-dmt. so I can see this becoming viable treatment LEGALLY in 10 years.

psychedelic work I feel is also my calling. its why I decided to go and study healthcare. I can't see official jobs going in healthcare in the UK without legit qualifications from university or college at the least. im not saying experience won't be valid, I believe it will be a huge part of it... but also medical degrees/qualifications recognised by the correct authorities here.

youre correct about the materialism and reductionism by the way.. but I think at this point anyone involved in psychiatry needs the sack! a majority of these people are so deluded/brainwashed they will never recover.. if they aren't deluded/brainwashed then they are corrupt and complicit. they are damaging people long term either way.

the university courses I dream of will contain indigenous teachings, spiritual teachings and also scientific teachings. a new breed of healthcare is needed. complete reform. and the pharmaceutical companies should be made to pay for everyones treatment (definitely a dream lol)

I see a lot of this too, even in SCOTLAND where im from.

hopefully as legalisation and regulation.. we can have proper healthcare courses for people that want to be involved in these types of works. the main reason being.. standards need to be set.

current psychiatry has ruined people. that entire profession needs an overhaul.. BUT giving the power to people that don't have much experience with REAL MENTAL ILLNESS and giving them psychedelics seems dangerous to me.. not much better than the damage anti depressants and anti psychotics do. cos you can prolong the illness with incorrect treatment.

Amanda, im not saying this categorically about yourself or your company but the scene as a whole. it's just where we are at right now. give it 20 years and we will have university courses that specialise in not only the spiritual aspect but also the science too.
