Noob incoming

Hey so I just got a dell t1650 with a Xeon 4c/8t,16gb of ram. It has one 512gb ssd in it. Would it be worth it to install proxmox in a separate usb flash drive and use my 512 for a zfs pool? Or am I wasting my time. The main purpose of the servers going to be run pie hole, possibly next cloud and home assistant would like to get a larger HDD for jelly fin and possibly True Nas.
