I’m not LE but just a lurker. I’ve always been a big fan and supporter of law enforcement and as a kid I wanted to be a cop but as I aged I realized I didn’t have the guts or resolve to handle the pressure.

I can’t imagine what it feels like to get the backlash that you all are getting right now. I have no doubts there are absolutely garbage people who get hired on as cops (like any profession) and give you all a bad name to so many people.

If anyone hasn’t said it yet, thank you. Thank you for going to work everyday, not knowing that you’ll see the again. Thank you for what you do to keep us safe. And to the Black cops on here, thank you for all of the above and also for the inner turmoil you may feel along with the immense social pressure.

We may not say it enough, but I think the vast majority of Americans are grateful for you and do not believe that there is some “systematic” problem that was ingrained in you since the academy. We don’t believe you’re all racist pieces of garbage or corrupt power-hungry people. You’re men and women who risk your lives to make ours a little better and a little safer. I’m sure you deal with a lot of frustrating bureaucratic red tape and a lot of distrust from citizens where you work but there are a lot of us that are rooting for you and thankful for you.
