Whole body tensing up when doing kegels?

Hello!

I've been trying to work on my kegels for a bit, but whenever I try doing them, I feel like I'm tensing up my whole body instead of just the pelvic floor/butt. It becomes pretty hard to hold for a while to tire the muscles because of that, as my body is kinda frozen. I also seem to have less control on my butt's muscles some days than other, any way to gain consistency there, and train them?
