Did you have a PET scan before your RALP?
For background, Iām 52y/o, Gleason 7, PI indicated on right side, PSA 5.7ā¦and scheduled for RALP on 11/11. Of course I want a 100% clean bill of health but also really want my nerves spared. Though my surgeon has over 5k RALPs under his belt and is highly recommended, I also feel like he errs on the side of taking nerves. A month ago when the referring Urologist reviewed my biopsy, he said a PET scan isnāt necessary to justify surgery. I didnāt know anything about nerve bundles at that point. Iām going to ask him next week but he strikes me as someone who doesnāt like to slow down to explain something he already said is ānot neededāā¦.thus my post to inquire about your experience. Hereās a video of the surgeon telling a patientās spouse he took a nerve because thatās where the biopsy indicated cancer. I didnāt think the biopsy included the nerves whatsoever so Iām confused.
