Question regarding sexual harassment.
Post Body

Hi all! I'm new to this sub and looking to have a few questions answered. Let me start by mentioning that I'm a part of the maintenance staff for an apartment complex in Iowa. This question pertains to our property manager and his treatment of our tenants.

So, I have worked for this company for over a year now. Our property manager has a ton of issues related to his work ethic, his treatment of his employees, and his treatment of our tenants. In our company, he is under scrutiny for letting our property fall apart at the seams. Just this last weekend, his boss, let's call her "K," came into our office to check on the leasing agents and maintenance staff while he was away on vacation. While she was here, she asked us honestly what our experiences with him were, as has been wondering if he is truly a fit for his position and our company. After an hour and 40 minutes, the conversation concluded, covering a wide range of topics. The most concerning of these topics were how our property manager ( a gay male) speaks in the most obscene ways about our male tenants that he finds attractive. Going so far to sit and watch them work out on our rec room and gym cameras and zooming in on their" assets". He is constantly saying the filthiest, most obscene things to our leasing agents in the office about our tenants and showing them nudes of our tenants he's found on grinder and other dating apps! Needless to say, our leasing agents have become EXTREMELY uncomfortable by this behavior.

"K" was absolutely shocked and took all of this to the assistant owner of the company who got back to us today saying he refused to fire our property manager and that he would talk yo him about everything we addressed with K!

This is very concerning due to our PM's narcissistic and vindictive nature! It took everything we had as a team to collectively come together and finally speak out about the conditions in our office only to be told that it was of no consequence!

My question to the community is, have any of you ever dealt with a similar situation? If your company refuses to acknowledge sexual harassment is there any other action for you to take? I'm personally sick of hearing how he would treat our straight male tenants better than their male/ female partners, his mysogny towards our female tenants when he refuses to help them even though he bends over backwards to help a male tenant he finds attractive, and the grotesque things he says/ fantasizes about doing to them and decides to verbalize to the whole staff on our property!

Is there some sort of authority we should be contacting that can go above our owner/ co-owner? Should we be informing the tenants he frequently sexualizes and has shown us private NSFW pictures of??

We are lost and could use some advice.
