So my gf had a blood test a month ago with 3250 prolactin after not having period for 4 months at age 30. We highly suspected Prolactinoma but the doctor said she should take another test for macro-prolactin.
We took another test, and while the prolactin is still 3100, they discovered macro-prolactin so high at >60%, which makes them conclude that the prolactin is not really high, but rather around 200 which is normal (!).
Most likely she doesn't have prolactinoma because the prolactin level was fake. Anyway, doctor gave her Cabergolin, which is weird, and I suspect he gave it to her because we asked, and not because she really need it. (She likely also have PCOS)
Should she take it ? the situation now is much more confusing because nobody knows what is this.
