Considering budget options; Moto X4 or Moto G7?

My Nexus 6P is not going to last much longer, but I don't have a ton of cash on hand to buy something like a Pixel 3, so I've been considering the more budget-friendly options currently available for Google Fi. With how new the Moto G7 is, and how most people will want to compare it to the G6, I've been struggling to find meaningful comparisons between the Moto G7 and the Moto X4.

I generally only use my phone for web browsing, Discord, Telegram, Gmail, and occasionally online banking and YouTube. I almost never do any gaming on it, nor do I tend to bother ever taking pictures with it. I wouldn't mind something physically a bit smaller than the 6P, though really so long as it's not bigger I'm alright with that. I very much enjoy the look of the G7 and placement of the fingerprint sensor, and while I'm slightly disappointed by the lack of NFC, honestly, I never really use it on my 6P anyway. I do prefer fast OS updates and a fairly stock Android experience, though I'm also comfortable rooting my phone if necessary.

All that said... which of these phones would be more likely to suit my needs? The Moto X4's price is rather tempting, but the very recent release of Moto G7 has me suspecting that it will be seeing more support going forward.
