Few newbie questions

Hey everyone,
I've been playing PD2 for about a week now. My orb Sorc had been stonewalled as soon as I got to Hell haha. Got someone to get me to act 2 and I've been doing ancient tunnel runs trying to mf.
Anyway, I see some posts of items that have a recipe shown to enhance them.. none of my items show that.
Also the loot filtering, mine doesn't look like some of the others I've seen. With everything turned on I don't ever see the big 'LOOK AT ME' item tags I've seen in some videos of others playing - any way to fix this?
Sometimes a normal item shows up as purple. Last one was an eth, 1 open socket Shako helm.. why is it purple/standing out?
