I lowkey don't like how a litrpg handle increases someone's power. Like, put 10 stat points in strength to improve it. I never really liked it, so I want to create a new system. Instead of putting in point and suddenly increasing your abilities, you increase your potential. Let's say, for example, your strength was at 20, and you could only bench press 500 lbs, but you put 10 stat points into strength, and after training, you can bench press 750 lbs. That's the gist of it
The problem is that I don't think it would be very popular, secondly, how would I train certain stats, things like strength, speed, and toughness are easy to train, but how would you train stats like intelligence and wisdom? Those are the main problems I have in making this story. If anyone has any ideas of how to improve and / or fix the system, I am open to ideas
Edit: I would like to add the types of stats I would be using and their purposes
Strength: Raw physical power
Agility: Speed, stamina, reflexes, and reaction time
Durability: Toughness
Vitality: Total health, resistance to things like poison, and health regen
Intelligence: Raw computational power, decreasing the amount of time it takes to cast a spell and improving total mana
Wisdom: Outside-the-box thinking, creativity, and tactical thinking, decreasing the amount of mana it would take to cast the spell and improving mana regen
Sense: Five senses and instinct
Will: Perform actions for longer without losing focus and ignoring the pain
Charisma: Persuade people, make them follow you, and intimidation
Unknown 10th stat: For some reason, I feel like I should add a tenth stat but I just don't know what to put, so I would welcome some advice, and don't say luck because how would you train luck?
Edit again: I feel like I should include some background about my story so I can why I'm trying to go down this route of litrpg
My main character, Aiden, has leukemia. He's had it ever since he was a kid and has just recently learned that it is terminal and he won't make it past his 18th birthday. He's 17. Now, the system comes into play and helps by curing his leukemia, but only for a limited time, something about giving every new player a fair chance to start or something, until they grows strong enough on their own. After nearly being killed, he comes along with his older brother figure, who happens to be an MMA fighter. Aiden convinces his brother figure to tag alongside him on his journey to explore the new world so he can grow strong enough to overcome his leukemia when it returns but also experience all the great things he has missed up until this point in time.
There's a lot more than this, but this pretty much sums up the beginning of the story. This is why I'm pretty hard on sticking to the litrpg route because, how could I suddenly explain something like that happening without a system. I also wanted to experiment with this idea I've had, and figured why not hit two birds with one stone.
