Besides responding sarcastically with a 'How about I just give you my midterm draft when it is done?' have you found any sensible ways of responding to such an email or questions such as this that arise leading up to your exams?

I usually hold a midterm review refreshing on major topics we covered, but still have not found the best way to fend off 'is this something we need to know for the midterm?' question during each lecture and emails leading up to exams asking very specific questions about what to study
