Something I’ve thought about ever since I finished Layton’s Mystery Journey is that it suffers significantly from the case format. I like Kat herself, the concept of the 7 dragons and their story coming together, but I think that there was a total lack of true buildup even close to the caliber of the previous games. I think it was done in an attempt to switch up the formula used in the previous games, which I do understand, but it flopped for most people. I enjoyed it, but it felt hard to find the story compelling with such an episodic format.
My thoughts is: what do you think tis new games needs to do in order to be a new experience without retreading the same ground as previous games, but also ensuring it’s fresh and innovative in is story, puzzles and gameplay?
