The Prison industry is often compared to slavery for its predatory practices on the uneducated and poor. Both systems are designed to oppress certain groups of people, with the Prison industry disproportionately targeting minorities and those who are unable to afford a lawyer or bail. In both systems, those who are targeted are often stripped of their rights and freedoms, with the Prison industry creating a cycle of debt and poverty for the individuals it targets. However, just like slavery, the Prison industry's business model is profit-driven, where prisoners are treated as a commodity and their labor is used to generate income. In this way, the Prison industry is particularly predatory and exploitative, making it even more important to fight against its oppressive practices.
Having close family in federal prisons. I can tell you that federal prison are camps for slavery. You absolutely have to work. If you don't you are wow a shot for failure to program. Enough shots and they take your good time away and or raise your points to force you into a higher security. Unicorn = Slavery. It allows the federal government to exploit people's labor while paying them 20 cents an hour to do jobs for the federal government. All along they make a hostile environment and never actually help the inmates get better. The government is trash.
