Advice on gauging up

I’ve had my PA for several years now and have been taking my time moving up in gauge size. Currently have had 8g in for two ish years now and would like to move up to 6g but can’t seem to get it quite in all the way. I don’t have a taper and would love to avoid having to go to the shop. Any ideas on how to better stretch? Or where to find a taper?
