In the prom episode why was Emily the evil queen?

I was wondering if there was a reason why Emily portrayed the Evil Queen/ a villain when everyone else was a princess. Was there a meaning behind this that I missed? I’m rewatching and I still don’t get it besides just thinking outfit looked good on her and they choose a character based on the outfit not the outfit based on the character.

There’s a weird history of villains being queer coded- not sure if it was intentional, but it’s not a great look. Same with the trans villain storyline
