I had a disagreement with my friend regarding Spencer and Caleb dating. Now I haven't seen the last two seasons since they aired so I could be wrong about stuff.
My friend says that the idea of Spencer even entertaining the idea and then asking permission to date Caleb was a huge no-no, and she would have cut Spencer out for good. Like she would say it was "ok" like Hanna did, but then low-key distance herself from them. But she agrees that Hanna should not have try to make Spencer jealous. She also says that even if she said no to Spencer, she wouldn't trust her anymore because in the back of her mind she would always wonder about them.
She was also saying like being honest with Spencer when she asked would be difficult but why would it? If she's your best friend set boundaries. And sure maybe Hanna thought she'd be ok with it and then changed her mind, so when Spencer asked again, she still lied. That's just dumb, immature behavior at that point. Be honest fr. Not everything is easy in life.
I think dating your best friends ex is just a no-go, especially a first-love, but I don't think that I would cut Spencer out of my life and would have been honest with her not being ok dating Caleb. Like you can't help your emotions, so why would I cut my friend out of my life for something she can't help?
Idk, where do you guys stand on this argument?
EDIT: Also, she said that as her friend she should have known Hanna wasn't ok with it (mind-reading?), but in this clip she's literally smiling and telling her to go for it??? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohATSGoTWbo&ab_channel=PrettyLittleLiars
