Purchasing advice!!
Post Body

Hi guys, I’m new to the world of PCs (been using a Dell XPS 2018 laptop for the past four years) and I’d like some advice on what to buy. My use case is work (I’m a data manager, spend a fair amount of time in DBeaver running queries, testing APIs on Postman, and using spreadsheets in Excel/databases on Notion) and gaming (open world, roguelikes, strategy games — usually do this on PS4 but looking to upgrade to a PC experience). I’m also planning on buying the Dell G3223Q 4K monitor that does 144Hz

A family friend of mine runs a hardware retail store and gave me the following options:

  1. Optiplex desktop with added components (RAM and hard drive i think — im not partial to this option)
  2. Alienware AUR R13 I7 12700KF/32/1TB 512 GB SSD, 3080Ti-12 GB W11
  3. WORKSTATION HP Z2 G8 I7 11700K/16GB/512 GB SSD, 1TB-HDD/W10-PRO VGA HP RTX A4000 16GB DDR6 (20X24AA)
  4. Dell Precision, similar specs as #3

Would really appreciate some advice on the above options recommendations for others if the above aren’t the best. I asked this on a discord forum too and got a lot of advice telling me to stay away from Alienware (I will) but I would like some alternatives, I don’t really have the resources or time to build my own PC, and smaller brands are generally harder to find where I live. Thanks in advance!
