Partner Center Vs MSOnline Powershell Modules

Post Body

Hi All,

Currently trying to make a load of scripts for the MSP I work for in a kind of passive way to help me learn powershell - but seem to be running into issues with the MS modules not being "complete" or missing certain key features that the other modules have.

What would you recommend given the following:

  1. Ideally users will only need to sign in once, but having a sign-in page preventing anyone just running the script would be preferable - I don't like the idea of storing a signature in the script though using certs might be an option albeit a PITA. This means ideally only using either MSOnline or PartnerCenter modules not both.
  2. MSOL has depreciated assigning licenses through the Set-MSOLUserLicense, whereas PartnerCenter has Set-PartnerCustomerUserLicense. Obviously here that means needing to use PartnerCenter - or possibly the API.
  3. MSOL has Get-MSOLDomain which retrieves a list of domains associated with a particular tenant - as far as I can tell there is no way to do this in PartnerCenter. Is that true because that seems like a really fundamental thing to need when making new users? All I can see is the default domain under Get-PartnerCustomer.

Instead of relying on the PS modules should I be looking at using one of the APIs but they seem to be changing faster than anything else..?
