what widows service is safe to turn on/off while doing tests?
Post Body

howdy y'all,

i've a need to turn on/off a service to test some other code that compares the services that are running. is there a service that ...

  • is available on most relatively current versions of windows
  • can be safely turned on/off without harmful side effects

perhaps something like Windows Biometric Service?

take care,
lee

i'm going with the print spooler service since that otta be everywhere and it sure as heck ought not to be in use at the time. [grin]

thanks to boli99 for that suggestion - and thanks to alla y'all for the various ideas!

take care,
lee
