what is `ValidateDrive` or `ValidateUserDrive`?

howdy y'all,
the Validate* items in advanced functions seem to be related to the various .Validate*Attribute items in [System.Management.Automation.*].
so, 1st, is that true?
2nd, what do the *Drive items DO?
my search powers are apparently at low ebb today and i have found nothing at all about either. [sigh ...]
would some kind person please point me to some info on this?
