Advice for a New Potter

Post Body

I’m pretty new to pottery, but boy did I fall in love fast. The past two weeks have been a whirlwind of pulling clay, centering and breathing. Something shifted, and it suddenly all makes sense. I’m hooked. I fall asleep thinking about clay, I wake up thinking about it. I’m obsessing over YouTube tutorials and advice articles. I’m in my second term of ceramics, and I’m dreading the end. I want to find a wheel before June so that I can continue learning.

Artists of r/pottery: what wheel do you use? What do you recommend for someone just starting out? I’m looking for something under 300-400 dollars. Ideally, I would love to find a used wheel. So if you know of any resources or live in the Portland, Oregon area and have a wheel for sale, please hmu!

I haven’t been this excited about something in a while. Working with clay feels like a new perspective on life. Idk how to explain it. You probably get it. Words aren’t needed.
