Does anyone know about water soluble metallic stains?

Post Body

I'm looking for water soluble stains that I could experiment with for decorating my work. I'd like to experiment with stuff that might behave differently than the insoluble powder emulsions/slurries more typical in pottery.

Can anyone point me to information on soluble fireable pigments?

Copper sulphate comes to mind. Does it turn black when fired in an oxidizing atmosphere?
