Making slip casting moulds: how are wandering parting lines done?

Post Body

I've seen slip casting moulds with non planar parting lines. Sometimes curved like this mould:

How are curved parting lines done? Is one mould half cast to a deeper depth then the wandering parting line carved out of the once flat half casting?

Basically keep gouging out plaster until you can easily get the master part out of the first mould half then clean up the surface and cast the 2nd half?
