I've been accumulating my bent cones because I think they're neat looking things.
I'm thinking of seeing if I can bond them to another clay body, perhaps with a little blob of lower fire clay.
Something along the lines of collecting cone 6 witness and sitter cones to kludge onto a cone 04 clay body with blobs of cone 04 clay to make a potter's hedgehog.
I'm unaware of the clay used to make witness cones. Would cone 04 clay vitrify with the base on a witness cone?
I expect that the expansion rates of a witness cone would probably end up being considerably different than my 04 clay and my hedgehog would end up shedding all the cones during it's first bisque fire.
Has anyone tried sticking already fired cones to anything else? How did it turn out?
