The Workerâs Partyâs coalition have been in charge of the country for three election cycles after the fall of the Imperial Association Partyâs conservative coalition. However the past 3 years of Sandra Lee Vercroeâs government has been unfortunately mired in some of the worst geopolitical blunders and economic decisions the country has taken in decades, staining the reputation of the socialist party which historically has been a highly effective political movement as shown by the early years of 1998.
Despite this fact, the Workerâs Party coalition remained quite strong compared to the Conservatives. A poor campaign by the Imperial Association Party which advocated for continuing the war and adopt austerity measures to balance the budget fell into deaf ears of a reeling public who wanted none of that. The Sino Polynesian War has entered its 3rd year with the Chinese forces not budging even after the surrender of Japan in late 2003. Acknowledging the prospect of further egregious casualties in order to end the war. Measures by the government to impose limited censorship and speech regarding the war were deeply unpopular by the public, not to mention the stark contradictions of a constitutionally heterogenous Empire yet it treats racial minorities such as the paheka and Tasmanians as second class citizens.
The anger of these contradictions came to ahead when the Empire decided to cede Polynesian Australia to the Murribunji which was admittedly a controversial decision within the Polynesian public who viewed Australians as equal citizens who were treated the same under the law and such surrender of territory angered many who thought such a unilateral decision was taken without the consent of the people living in the territory. But perhaps the topic what dominated the debates well into the election was the fate of Japan and its partition. The government believed their decision was made for the sake of stability in Japan and to avoid more unnecessary conflict in the country but retractors and opponents have only to reference mass strikes and the imposed republican government in Japan to be on the brink of civil war to explain that the negotiators made a grave mistake. The surrender of the Emperor to the Aynu, rumored to be a genocidal regime hell bent on the destruction of the Japanese race greatly angered the conservatives and imperialists of Polynesia viewing the Emperor of Japan as an equal and Polynesia being responsible for eliminating millenia of history through one act. The Workerâs Party might have been happy with the results and the success of appeasment to the Batak and the Aynu. But the Polynesian public was not.
As the final vote tallies came in. The results sent shockwaves through the Empire. The Workerâs Party and the Imperial Association Partyâs performance was abysmal losing almost 50% of their seats demoting their standing to the same level as secondary parties. The only party that emerged succesful was the underdog âPolynesian Progressive Partyâ whom itâs pro modernist, technocratic, social justice, and liberal manifesto emerged as the preeminent program of the times. Organizing a new coalition with likeminded parties such as the Citizensâs Victory Movement, Ecologist and Reconstruction Party, Prosperity Mandate Party and the Moanas and Marinas Party, they formed a government on late January with the following programs:
-Establishing a coherent global policy: The Workerâs party has adopted geopolitical objectives that many political commentators described as âschizophrenicâ at times with contradicting objectives exposed by the diversity of parties in the governing coalition.
-Carry the Sino Polynesian War to the finish line. The government will continue the war against the Zhongguo with the interest of a leninent peace deal favoring ANZAC.
-Modernize the countryâs infrastructure and bureaucracy under the 6 yearâImperial Planâ which was proposed by the Emperor himself.
-Repair relations with fellow liberal democracies and modern states, such as the Mekong Republic, the FRIS and the Philippines.
-Establish the âOceanic Communityâ a customs union, free market zone and confederal autonomist system with newly accquired territories to be transformed into autonomous republican territories after adopting the lessons from Polynesian Australia. The organization is intended to expand into an independent international alliance with Polynesia at its head. The organization is intended to come into fruition with the end of the Sino Polynesian War.
-Expand agricultural and raw resource production to keep up with local demand in the economy, Deregulate protectionist laws and constraints on industries to incentivize greater production of industrial goods.
-Reach a naval quota of at least 500 naval supply cap by the end of the trimester (3 year Naval Expansion program.)
-Start a domestic aircraft production industry and reorganize the Naval Air Arm into the Polynesian Air Force.
