Post Body

Jigme Wangchuck, Emperor of the Thunder Dragon Empire, Druk Gyalpo of the Kingdom of Bhutan, King-Regent of Burma and East India, and any realm under the Thudhamma Nikaya, Associate of the Tibetan Maitreya and His Demon Vanquishing Army. The names went on as the emperor read the titles he could introduce himself with on the tall golden podium, surrounded by his peers; the elderly Ly Min sitting the closest next to him, right beside Khesar, who Jigme knew was already proving himself to be a competent heir; traveling to the outskirts of the Empire to meet with the Bodhisattvas and other local leaders to normalize ties that Ly Min was not particularly fond of. Khesar was equally as — if not more — charismatic than Jigme; perhaps even more charismatic than Ly Min, though that could be debated. Amongst the sea of people within the lavishly-decorated hall, Jigme spotted the Maitreya Himself, along with three of his four Bodhisattvas (the invitation for the Bodhisattva of the East was never RSVP’d, as it sat with a thin layer of dust under the cot of Ly Min within the Taung Kalat complex), sitting patiently, waiting for their overlord to deliver his speech. Jigme knew they were good, loyal men, as their rhetoric had even gotten so far as to make Ly Min content with the geopolitical situation regarding a Maitreya, despite Min’s personal beliefs actively going against the idea. Jigme took a deep gulp of fresh spring water, straightened his notes, and cleared his throat while facing his large audience of statesmen, merchants, and whoever else decided to come to this historic event in the rebuilt halls of Popa.

“Gentlemen and ladies of Burma, of Bhutan, of Tibet, of India, and of other lands under the monastacy. I welcome you to this conference with a curious heart and optimistic gaze, as I know our interests lie in the same category: the enrichment of those who operate below us; the working caste; the toiling caste; those who make us profit and worship the ideas which we endorse, and who deserve nothing less than our utmost respect and benevolent patronage. We stand here today in the meeting place of the former Laymen’s Organization, which brought stagnation to an otherwise enriched nation, and could not — even in their best efforts — bring peace to Burma. I, the Emperor of the Thunder Dragon Empire, Associate of the Maitreya, look to do what the former government of this nation could not and more. Together we will cement our legacy in Asia, as well as the people which call my empire their home. We will cement a legacy that builds pagodas higher, paddies larger, and harbors longer, all in the attempt to improve the prosperity of the people within and the people who seek to be within. Together we will bring immeasurable growth to Burma, Bhutan, India, and Tibet, which will be coveted by all those who fathom it; and we will share such growth with those who fathom it…”

Jigme looked to the bright faces of his constituency; his new ruling class. They were a good bunch, the few hundred of them, all huddled in a portion of the hall, dressed lavishly but somehow humbly and with gentle faces. He took a sip of water and continued.

“The priority of reclaiming the entirety of Bhutan is of the utmost importance. Not only for the reason of personal heritage, but also to ensure the legitimacy of the Empire and that no other nation shall form under the claimant of the Bhutanese nation. This priority’s simplicity is not a matter of debate, but a fact that shall be acted on with the utmost professionalism and haste. Bhutan shall be fully reclaimed by the dynasty in no longer than two years.”

The hall nodded in agreement.

“The second priority is to shed the old, scattered policy of the former government in its funding of worker’s groups and private ownership of land under the oppressive capitalist system which exploits the people and shackles their intentions to profit. The intentions of the worker should lie solely amongst themself and their lord, who will direct their motivations accordingly to maximize their prosperity and happiness while still retaining a functional economic factor. Land shall be redistributed amongst the landlords and all private enterprises shall be nationalized within five years, as to ensure capitalist monopolies are entirely broken and the western devil of prioritizing financial profit cannot be possible. The industrial ideas of the western philosophies will be disenfranchised and replaced with an agrarian-based system of product, with every valley to be converted from a manufactory into a field or paddy with the care of a saint, as to ensure nothing is harmed while doing so. The Empire will still retain the basic necessities of all industries to sustain a functional economy and healthy people, such as the nationalization of medicine, automobiles, and other necessary luxuries to which the people of the Empire are entitled to enjoy.”

The hall nodded in agreement, with some elements of the agricultural department chattering amongst themselves in excitement. Jigme continued to detail the finer aspects of such enthusiastic feudal policy, such as the inclusion of the sangha into the oral bureaucracy, and the recruitment of a personal military that could work alongside the militias. It was foggy, and not much real information was disclosed, but the charismatic Druk Gyalpo captivated his audience and made the world know the potential of the Thunder Dragon Empire.
