âThe Dragon King, you say?â The bearded man in the fur hat scoffed. âThey got run out years ago, donât you remember?â
The soldier shrugged meaninglessly; this was how every conversation went from village to village. âWhy are they back here? Werenât they killed or something?â, or âAll they did was collect taxes and maybe bankroll a monastery. We donât need them back.â. But orders were orders; the Wangchucks were back in Bhutan whether people liked it or not (it's not like they had the resources to rebel anyways). Woeten nudged the pamphlet into the bearded manâs â probably the mayorâs â hands, insisting that he read⌠If he knew how to read.
And on the truck he and his unarmed contemporaries mounted, ready to conquer the next village with small cuts of cheap paper explaining the situation in Burma; why the Emperor was back, and how they could help the local tax effort. It wasnât anything honorable, sure, but at least they werenât sitting around in the sun like the poor boys at Myitkyina.
The Thunder Dragon Empire annexes LH075, LH066, LH064, and LH059.
