Post Body

U Ly Min had achieved much in the past dozen years as his tenure of Senior Monk of the Thudhamma Nikaya, but it was only recently in the realm of politics where he had become a polarizing figurehead for the monastic orders. It was not until two years ago that he entered the assembly hall of the Laymen’s Organization to demand international action be taken, and that the Organization begin acting as a government and not a large, morally ambiguous commune. While many laymen applauded his efforts, a large faction of his own rank shunned him; called him revolutionary and anti-Buddhist. He begged to differ on the accusations, but had ultimately found himself alone in the monastic world, unable to conjure support from anyone within his spiritual sphere. Despite this, he had risen politically as an active, vaguely liberal monk in the eyes of the laymen, and had found fame there, now acting as the ambassador for Thudhamma Nikaya to the rest of the world, as no other senior monk wanted the position.

There was nothing inherently anti-Buddhist about the quest for prosperity for all, and he knew it. His influence led to the creation of the Ministry of Foreign Integration, which would undoubtedly lead to the greatest strides of progress for Min as a nation, and in turn bring more power to the monastics, which allowed for better living standards of the people. A good cycle, he thought, a very good cycle. Already, only weeks into the establishment of the MFI did the local towns of Bugon, Chuangshe, and Gwegon petition for integration, along with their monastic counterparts which were already under the thumb of Thudhamma Nikaya. Ly Min saw great potential in these pragmatic monks in an otherwise reactionary council, and he hoped that the political integration of their respective cities would allow them to act more freely within Min, hopefully leading to a united front for prosperity spearheaded by Ly Min himself.
