Although the death of the great Premier Chiang Wei-kuo had stopped the NRA from actively searching out more land to reunify with Kiangsi, the interim government has made it clear that the unification of southern China is one of the highest priorities for the province. As the years go on the desire to reclaim Chinese land only increases which coupled with the fact that there was now a competitor in the south-east meant that the province had to move fast. The land of Kiangsi had to be united under the Republic of China before the false-state of the Zhōngguó Dynasty could exert their counter-revolutionary and monarchical influence.

The lands to the south were run by bandits who ruled their provinces like mini-kingdoms, with many taking noble title and denouncing the legitimacy and authority of the Republic of China. Neighbours like that could not be allowed to continue existing without intervention from the NRA. The most accurate information about the invasion of the southern bandit kingdoms was recorded in the diary of the Christian Yīděng Bīng (Private) Gong Bai.

I write this diary as we prepare our push into Shaoguan. We are in high spirits, the bandits will surely flee from the might of the Republic of China. We saw their defences and they were nothing more than palisades and various foxholes, our mech troopers will easily defeat these men before they even know it. I hope that no one in my squad is killed, I've made connections with these men that I've never made outside of the Army. I pray Almighty God keeps all of us safe, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

We have made a mistake. These 'bandits' were nothing close to what we had expected. The bandits were nothing more than scared villagers and peasants. Their 'bandit king' was nothing more than a Mayor who used a traditional title. The Army had been lied too, but we didn't know till the artillery had hit and we moved into the city. We walked around the city and bodies littered the streets, people closed their doors and windows to hide from us. We weren't liberators, we were invaders. I pray that even in my duty our Lord God will forgive me for my transgressions.
My commander has questioned the importance of me writing this diary, he claims that I have to write an 'accurate' depiction of this invasion, but I cannot fall under their desires. I must tell the truth.

My diary is going to be confiscated, a man in my squad has told the commander that I have been critiquing the so-called 'liberation'. I do not know what will happen to me, but I send this out to you brother, please reveal it to the rest of Kiangsi. We cannot be agents of destruction.
The diary of Private Gong Bai was never received by his brother and has been censored and re-written to show support for the liberation and for the NRA in Kiangsi. Gong Bai himself merely a day after he sent the diary 'was killed in battle by dastardly bandits'.
