On April 8th, 1997, Premier Chiang Wei-kuo ascended into heaven. He was found in his bed with a peaceful look on his face and was said to have died in his sleep without any pain. A large state funeral will be organised in two months wherein delegates from across Asia will be invited to celebrate the life of the dedicated Kuomintang Revolutionary, Chiang Wei-kuo. Unfortunately with his passing the government of Kiangsi has created an interim government until the new Premier will be elected. There were multiple candidates for the Premier, with one having an apparent "Succession" letter that apparently proves that Wei-kuo had chosen him as his preferred successor.
Lee Teng-hui: Lee Teng-hui is a local Kuomintang politician who had for the large part been behind the scenes orchestrating the economy of Kiangsi. He was born in Taiwan and served under the Japanese occupation forces and thus is fluent in both Mandarin and in Japanese as well as his native Hokkien. He is the only popular Kuomintang figure in Kiangsi who was previously a member of the Communist Party of China although Lee said that he had strongly opposed Communism for a long time because he understood the theory well and knew that it was doomed to fail.
The view of Lee are closest to the views of the Youth League and thus supports liberalisation, the ending of the warlord system, and cooperation with non-KMT groups.
General Hau Pei-tsun: Hau Pei-tsun is a Jiangsu Kuomintang veteran who fought in the establishment of Kiangsi as a loyal KMT affiliated province. He was raised in Jiangsu and attended the Whampoa Academy during the civil war and participated in battles against the PLA. As a veteran Hau reflects that by being highly conservative and autocratic, wishing to bring Kiangsi under the rulership of a Warlord in response to the unchecked crime in Kiangsi and the neighboring monarchists.
The views of Hau are closest to the views of the Harmony Association, believing in "Guided Democracy" and using autocracy to preserve the safety of Kiangsi until it is safe enough to restore a civilian government.
Jiang Zemin: Jiang Zemin is a a Kuomintang official known as a "flower pot", a term for someone who only seems useful, but actually gets nothing done. He is largely funded by the Five Harmonious Guilds and thus many even within the Kuomintang don't trust him. He spent most of his time studying at university and working within the Student Kuomintang body.
The views of Jiang are closest to the views of the Harmonious Kongsi, believing in economic liberalisation, the advancement of historical revisionism, and the unification of the Kuomintang and the Five Harmonious Guilds.
Now the Kuomintang must decide a successor with an internal election, hopefully without any problems or dissent.
