The city of Nanchang had grown and grown since the EVENT reaching to be to the largest city of the Province of Kiangsi. Unfortunately with such growth it left the poor and destitute behind, especially due to the Harmonious Guilds interference with charities and government sponsored programs. Nanchang is a city of wealth disparity, the gap between the rich and poor is more noticeable than any other city or town in the province and has no signs that any improvement will come. Due to the lack of government support and the vast amount of poor large parts of the city have been turned to slums and homeless camps with the vast majority of citizens either ignoring their existence of outright calling for their expulsion. It would not be an uncommon sight to see a group of businessmen leave a 5 Star Restaurant in suits and then merely step over the homeless that slept outside. For the average citizen in Nanchang their lives were sub-par being paid criminally low wages, no healthcare, and no protection in the forms of trade unions due to the absolute power the Harmonious Guilds have over the economy.

The actual city itself is filled with bars, clubs, Mah-jong halls, brothels, and even opium dens. As the city is filled with different vices the streets at night get quite dangerous, only reinforced by the winding snaky roads of Nanchang that often lead to dead ends or down a maze of slums. The dark nights only get darker due to the vast amount of smog and pollution in Nanchang that has came around due to the heavy reliance of diesel fuel to power almost everything in the city. Since Nanchang is so hard to navigate it became the perfect place for criminals to operate outside of, this has caused immigrants to be commonly seen around Nanchang who are primarily Korean, Japanese, Thai, and Vietnamese. The immigrants within Nanchang are treated with distrust by locals due to their association with organised crime or outright violence by Kiangsi Guild members due to them taking business away from the local Triads. Since the city is essentially filled to the brim with organised crime there is often gang hits that disrupt the peace of the city but all it takes is a quick bribe to the local soldiers or police force and it's like nothing ever happened.

In Nanchang with it's vast amount of immigrants there has been the informal creation of 'Foreign Quarters' that are almost entirely inhabited by immigrants or the destitute. The largest of these is the Korean Quarter which is nominally run by the Jo-Pok, the Korean Mafia. The Korean Quarter is a hot spot for drug distribution, prostitution, and trafficking of all sorts, thus making it one of the most dangerous areas in all of Nanchang. The Nanchang Police Force usually avoid any calls or reports of crime in the Korean Quarter as it is too dangerous for them to even enter the area without fear of being attacked or their families threatened. Usually what happens is the Nanchang Police Force works with the Kiangsi Harmonious Guilds and sends Guild members/Triads into the Quarter instead to solve the crime. Unfortunately what usually happens is the Triads go in, kill multiple (most likely innocent) Korean immigrants and then consider the crime solved.

Although the city is essentially under the whims of the Harmonious Guilds, the Kuomintang still has a presence within Nanchang. All government buildings are adorned with the Flag of Kiangsi and soldiers patrol in all heavily controlled areas. Although the Kuomintang cannot properly rule the city to their specifications due to the Guilds influence over Nanchang. The Kuomintang try to exert their power and influence by creating government programs and establishing real law and order so that there is equity before the law, although the Guilds do try and prevent the status quo from changing. However, the Kuomintang has the benefit of having an army behind them, due to this they are able to raid Guild holdouts for various crimes and is largely able to do so without interference as long as the elites of the Guilds were left unmolested.
