The Irish Republican Socialist Party, towards the end there, saw a change in ideology to allow a massive growth in numbers as well as a massive amount of militancy. As the tides rose, the people grew hungry and discontent, and felt the oceans closing in on the green isles, and they wanted to take action. The ranks of the Irish National Liberation Army (The military wing of the IRSP) swelled with Socialist Republicans, and they set to work infiltrating the army while beginning a sectarian terror campaign to shock the imperialists who would stomp on Ireland. While the terrorism was going okay, much of the infiltration was not, save for the air force which was going pretty alright. There were calls to call it off and focus fully on the insurgency.
Well, as the floodwaters rose more and more, and nuclear war reared her head, that air force infiltration proved to be what saved them; the Irish Air Force were able to be pulverized and overpowered by mutinies and assassinations, and as the INLA consolidated militants, resources, aircraft, and technicians, and the ISRP set themselves up in charge of Muenster, they began to operate rescue and supply operations across the rest of Ireland where they were welcome, using the air fleet. While many of the planes were either irreparably damaged after intensive use, or otherwise impossible to use due to cost, they were quickly replaced with less advanced and expensive designs, so that operations could continue.
When it was finished with, the awkward situation of remnants of the old government being around on East Erie came to light, and, after some power struggles internally, the ISRP chose to be affiliated as an (autonomous) military province with the New-Dublin Government.
The National Liberation Provisional Committee has been largely chill with the whole situation now that the hurly burly is over, besides with anyone who they considered to be a remnant of the government which brought about the end of the world, whom they brutally ended the lives of in the immediate aftermath of the nuke-war. The meal of their bones now fuels collective agriculture and a vibrant state-owned aircraft industry.
The ISRP is currently in a power struggle with several internal factions, with some wishing to end the provisional governance and bring about a proper Soviet Democracy, while others believe the situation to be still unstable enough to require unelected party government. The current General Secretary, Allen O'Mallard, has distanced himself from the power struggle out of a disinterest in it, as well as being essentially a lame duck, as he is old and retiring soon.
The future of Muenster is rapidly approaching. That'll be fun.
