In the lands known as the Congo, al-Shabaab has increasingly gained more and more territory with only the capital under the GCP. The militant Islamist group has rapidly expanded with violent strikes, suicide bombings, and sleeper cells which have all driven the GCP and their mercenaries to retreat to the capital. In the territories controlled by al-Shabaab the populace has actually welcomed their 'liberators' and let them into their towns and villages to hopefully ensure that they would not be bothered by the GCP again. These locals were also recruited into the Islamist group, fighting as non-Muslim auxiliaries who could help al-Shabaab with the final push into the capital.

As only the capital stood in between al-Shabaab and their Islamic state, a full-scale invasion would have to take place. The Emir of al-Shabaab, Nsanga Yusef al-Annabi called for his entire group to push forward and remove the corrupt western and capitalist influence on the Congo.

"Our so-called leaders prostituted us to the West... destroyed our culture... our economies... our honor. Our blood has been spilled on our soil. My blood... on their hands. They are the invaders. All European Colonial forces will leave the Congo immediately... or suffer the consequences.

Today, we rise again as one nation, in the face of betrayal and corruption! We all trusted the scientists to deliver our great nation into a new era of prosperity. But they have been colluding with the West with only self-interest at heart! Collusion breeds slavery! And we shall not be enslaved! The time has come to show our true strength. They underestimate our resolve. Let us show that we do not fear them. As one people, we shall free our brethren from the yoke of foreign oppression! Our Mujahideen are strong, and our cause is just. As I speak, our armies are nearing their objectives, by which we will restore the independence of a once-great nation. Our noble Jihad has begun. Just as they laid waste to our country, we shall lay waste to theirs. This is how it begins."

His speech was incredibly well-received and was broadcasted on radio to every possible frequency in the Congo, even if it did warn the struggling and cornered GCP. Within the hour, the attacks begun. In the capital of Kabinda the inhabitants were surprised by artillery and mortars as they went about their day with many completely unaware of the danger they were in. After hours of artillery strikes, al-Shabaab moved in. Mujahideen foot soldiers pushed into the city of Kabinda with the assistance of tanks and IFVs, mainly stolen or hijacked from conquered military bases and from defection by some GCP mercenaries. While al-Shabaab started out as a poorly equipped Jihadist group they were now on par with the GCP and their armed forces.

To destabilize GCP positions cars were fitted with IEDs and sent to smash into heavily guarded areas. The bombings quickly demoralized the GCP forces as instantly after they would be pushed by armed Jihadists and engaged in a firefight. Although the death toll was much higher for al-Shabaab forces they made up for it in pure religious dedication, many would refuse to be captured and instead would rather kill themselves with explosives which of course made approaching even dead al-Shabaab militants a danger. The battle in the city of Kabinda lasted days and days with small pockets of GCP resistance holding out and refusing to surrender as they knew they would be killed regardless of what happens. Every night locals would be awoken to gun fire, explosions, and screams from both GCP and al-Shabaab forces. Surprisingly the locals were untouched (the majority at least) by al-Shabaab as they were treated as non-combatants. However, those who were suspected to support the GCP were heavily tortured and many were executed for their apparent crimes against the Congo and against Islam. The battle for Kabinda ended rather quietly, al-Shabaab militants reached the head research facility and found inside that all the scientists of the GCP had shot themselves to avoid capture. Their bodies were hung from buildings so that all could see that the GCP was over.
