Within the lands of Congo the people were rather uninvolved with any political process that would occur, mainly due to the fact there was barely a state to begin with. The Global Consciousness Project did not entirely put their best foot forward when it came to governing the people who lived within their territory. They upheld a pragmatic approach that the greater good is more important than the individual, which usually meant incredibly harsh sentences and capital punishment for even the most minor infractions to the healing of the Noosphere. The majority of Congolese within the territories were unaware of this pseudo-scientific concept that plagued their lives and thus could not understand when someone did not apologise quickly enough to a scientist and the Ministry of Truth had them arrested. Of course once you begin to curtail human rights and arrest anyone for the slightest infraction, you get dissent. While politics was not a major focus for the GCP it was a major focus for the common man and woman in the Congo. All across the GCP territory politically motivated groups begun to organize and all offer their own solutions to the problems of the Congo, problems that were largely unsolved by the scientists in their labs. Despite all the differences of the following parties, all are united in the goal of liberating the Congo and upholding the rights of Congolese people.
The first group developed in the Congo was the "Allied Democratic Socialists" (Socialistes Démocrates Alliés). The SDA are Communalists that wish to establish a fair and democratic society without unjust hierarchy. They are critical of nationalism and of capitalism, rather working for mutual aid and redistribution based on need. The SDA wish to democratize the entire society of the Congo from top to bottom, removing all negative and toxic elements of government and culture. The SDA are the inventors of "Femmeology", the science of women, or women's science, is a form of feminism which says that a country can't be free unless the women are free.
The next groups that formed were descended from the old political parties of the Congo. They were the "Democratic Party of Congo" (Parti Démocratique du Congo) and the "Union of Congolese Patriots" (Union des Patriotes Congolais). Both these groups were descended from the Congolese National Movement and thus inherited some of the ideology of Lumumba with the UPC upholding the majority of Lumumbism; if not a watered down version. The PDC on the other hand became more mainline and conservative, adopting a big tent ideological stance to gather more support as their main focus was merely the liberation of the Congo.
The last two groups that formed were the most radical and militant, gaining the ire of the more moderate groups that wished to safely and legally create a government. They are the "Congolese Party of Labour" (Parti Congolais du Travail) and the "Zaire Movement" (Mouvement Zaïrois). The PCT is a Marxist-Leninist party that was formed to dismantle capitalism and create a truly African and truly socialist state. However, the MZ were the direct opposite. They are a Mobutuist party who wish to establish Zaire and remove all western influences from Congo and from the rest of Africa.
Despite the differences between each of the new political groups that had been formed, all wanted the same goal; a liberated Congo. And again despite all their differences the Scientists in the GCP did not care, they would be banned and any participation in these groups would be an instant arrest and re-education. The majority of these groups fled to Ethiopia in order to gather support and train themselves, getting ready for whenever the time was right to strike.
