The soldiers of the New Revolutionary Army had successfully taken the western provinces and now were to finally push into the last holdouts of the monarchist resistance. The lands were more easily traversable by vehicles and now the Burmese soldiers would be able to drive their tanks and APCs into the area. The monarchists would largely be hidden within their cities and rebels would be waiting at every turn in the roads.

The monarchists were largely underequipped but they made up for it in counter-revolutionary fervour and their use of child soldiers. The NRA would have problems as they would try and help deprogram the child soldiers but would quickly be punished for their kindness when the child pulled out a grenade or a sharpened bayonet. It came to be that the NRA started to just arrest the children and place them in refugee camps until they could be returned to their parents or adopted into the War Orphan System.

When the mechanized forces pushed into Toungup and the artillery had stopped, it wasn't long before the monarchists surrendered. Unfortunately due to the hiding of the monarchists within apartment blocks, schools, and hospitals there were heavy civilian casualties. The families of the dead civilians will be compensated on proving that their family did not support the Burmese Monarchy.
