In the forests of Burma the soldiers of the New Revolutionary Army stand at attention. They were to push into old Burmese land in the north-west, reclaiming the land they had lost during the civil war which destroyed most of the countries infrastructure. The force would push into these lands and try to dismantle any bandit kingdoms that have setup or if there are any elements of counter-revolutionary action occurring. The New Revolutionary Army is to be led by General Soe Win of the Military Commission, it is primarily a light infantry force with a small cavalry detachment that works wonders in the hills of Burma.

The cavalry would act as a recon force that would check for any encampments before letting the main force of the NRA into the area. The annexation was a success but more importantly created the fame of cavalryman Aung San who documented his travels in the invasion of the North-west as well giving an accurate depiction of an everyday soldier in Burma.
Day 1
Outskirts of Maungdaw
Approx 6:00am
I arrived outside Maungdaw with my comrades, there was a still feeling over the air and the mist covered the hills we were camped on. In the valley our Comrade-Lieutenant claims there are counter-revolutionaries so we will begin pushing in the morning. This is my first experience of war and so far it is nothing but boredom. We spend most of our time studying Marxism and Burmese Socialism, we aren't even allowed to sing in fear the counter-revolutionaries might hear us and begin to mortar our position.
Things will be okay, we are in high spirits and our Comrade-Lieutenant is incredibly zealous in his dedication to Marxism. With a man like him at the helm what could go wrong?
Day 15
Maungdaw
Approx 4:30am
We have been in control of Maungdaw for 10 days now, it is hell. The counter-revolutionaries do not care about the lives of their people, they push at us for hours everyday eating every single bullet we fire their way. We have called for their surrender many times yet they keep pushing, we have lost nearly 10 men and they've easily lost over 200. We let them collect their dead initially but we realised they begun to hide among the bodies and fire upon us without any preparation.
The counter-revolutionaries are barely people, they are monsters disguising as Burmese. I do not think we will lose Maungdaw, but I am worried we will run out of ammunition before reinforcements arrive.
Day 26
Maungdaw
Approx 7:30pm
Hurrah! Reinforcements arrived and routed the counter-revolutionaries! Unfortunately our victory is not without negatives, among the bodies of the monarchists we found children no older than 15 with rifles. They will not stop at nothing to destroy our way of life, they would send their children to fight their wars for them. I declare it by Mao and by Marx, I will not rest until the counter-revolutionaries have been extinguished, my notes will be sent to the National Peasant's Congress and hopefully there will be an international inquiry into these war crimes.
For Marx, for Mao, for Lenin, and for N'Ban La!
