The capital of the Emirate of Afghanistan, Herat, had been taken by Guardianship forces. While there had been some tactical losses due to the Taliban's focusing of forces in small pockets while losing out on large swathes of land. This strategy seemed popular amongst the brass of the Guardianship, who had encountered the same tactic against the CPCA which had lead to an outstanding victory of the Guardianship.
