The Admiralty of New York had a meagre military force during it's uprising, merely a peacekeeping force supplemented by the Sea Organisation. The Admiralty while thankful for the help of the Sea Organisation has realised that they need an independent military to ensure that there was a division of power between the religious authorities and the civil authorities. In order to create this division, the Admiralty has decided with the help of the Admiralty Oversight Commission and the Board of Directors that there would be the creation of the "National Marine Guard". Taking influence from the National Guard of the once-United States of America, the Admiralty has created a force of National Marine Guard soldiers and airmen that hold a civilian job full-time while serving part-time as a National Marine Guard member. These part-time marines are augmented by a full-time cadre of Active Guard & Reserve (AGR) personnel in both the National Marine Guard and Air National Guard, plus Marine Reserve Technicians in the National Marine Guard and Air Reserve Technicians (ART) in the Air National Guard.
While the name of the force, the "National Marine Guard" implies a naval based force, this is somewhat untrue as the National Marine Guard operates installations on land and aboard sea-going amphibious warfare ships around the world. The National Marine Guard is a service branch of infantry troops capable of fighting both at sea and on shore.
