In the lands of the old south, the people are surrounded by two political giants; The Tim Horton's Trading Company and the Republic of Texas. The influence by both these two nations have seeped into the south, making them an integral part of the national environment. However, in the lands known as 'Levi' a new nation has risen up, united by ideas of old Southern Hospitality and Nobility. An aura of elitism lives deep within Levi, still men and women adhere to the pre-flood ideals of respect and honour. Men ride on horses in grey uniforms and still cowboys wrestle livestock as they did hundreds of years before. It was almost like after the flood, people just returned to their previous lives. Initially, Levi was partitioned into multiple small towns that were governed by local sheriffs or congressmen. However, after the formation of the two neighbouring states, people and towns became to unite under the pretence of an allied defence. Eventually that was not enough and the local councils all voted on forming a centralised state. All were in agreement that Southern Christian values were going to be a forefront of politics, however, not all were united on how the government should work.
In the end the councils decided to vote for a Confederate Republic under Christian values. However, they also decided to use the old Southern families as the 'Primus inter pares'. People looked towards the families that looked after them for so long, ensuring jobs and safety within such turmoil in the region. Soon every aspect of the Confederacy was dictated by various families. Local families ran the sheriffs, the local congresses, even the old clubs that people once joined to feel belonging. One of the less desirable traditions that was deemed neccessary by the councils was the use of slavery. While slavery in the past was based on race or class, instead now slavery is used as a non-prison sentence for criminals. There are incredibly script rules on holding slaves due to them being treated as legal citizens of the Confederacy. As the families still held antiquated ideals and traditions, eventually Orders of Knighthood begun to emerge, probably based upon previous Southern institutions. The largest were as follows:
Knights of the Klan: The Knights of the Klan are a military order dedicated to law and righteousness. They usually patrol the Confederacy to ensure that the citizens are keeping up with Christian values. They are also used to capture escaped slaves.
The Order of the Magnolia: The Knights of Magnolia are a diplomatic order that usually work as lawyers and politicians. They are an order of Merit and not one of ancestry, this makes them the easiest Knighthood to join for an average citizen.
Sons of the Confederacy: The Sons of the Confederacy are a non-inheritable Knighthood order for police, sheriffs, and various other first responders. Many Sons of the Confederacy are in the military or are retired from the military. To join, you must be an ex-serviceman, a current serviceman, or a first responder.
League of the South: The League of the South are a diplomatic Knighthood order and are the only ones to not hold the title of 'Sir'. Instead, they hold the title of 'Freeman'. The goal of the League is to ensure cooperation between various Southern states that uphold Christian values as well as classic Southern tradition.
