The New Halifax Shipyards are now fully upgraded. For years, due to the flood of the original shipyards, the Maritimes was unable to build proper steel ships. Instead, we were attaching steel panels to the outside of wooden frames building "modern ironclads". This practice has now fallen by the wayside and full steel ships are going to become the new norm.
Thus, the Royal Canadian Navy has commissioned two new designs for our all-steel fleet. The Moncton-class will become the primary destroyer in our fleet, while the Sackville-class will become the primary gunboat for coastal defence. Both designs can either be built with standard deck guns, AA batteries, or torpedo tubes, and our navy has ordered the production of a number of new ships to replace the rusty ww2 models we have used for the past ten years.
