When the Michigan Army marched into the former Detroit Commune, the uproar across Red America was so great that the number of men looking to enlist in the Red Army had jumped 500% compared to the month prior. Indeed, being the most populous state in all of America, Ohio maintains a large manpower pool that, even on a relatively limited draft compared to its peers, the Red Army isn't able to fully arm and equipped. Over the course of the past year, having decommissioned most of the legacy Workers' Defense Council partisan units and replaced them with fully professional corps of troops, this traditional Ohioan edge of quantity has slowly been eroded. With the tide of the war turning and the Red Army now on the offensive, the appetite for casualties must also increase accordingly, as the General Staff can no longer take the very low casualties the Red Army has taken so far for granted.
In anticipation of horrific casualties that Operation Little Jupiter may bring, the Front-level Reserve Command has been established for the purpose of training basic units that could be rapidly converted to operational frontline companies. These effectively would form an operational reserve that would allow for rapid force regeneration as the weapons to arm them become available. This will include the artillery reserves that the Federal Government has sent us. With the expectation of being able to press over 30,000 men into service for the Reserve Command over the next 2 months, the Red Army expects to be able to maintain a high tempo of offensive operations over the course of all of 1958.
