With progress being made at the Constitutional Convention, it is clear that the Royal Canadian Navy needs to be prepared to protect all of Canada's coastlines. This means that we need to be prepared to re-establish the base at Esquimault, to rebuild the Canadian naval presence in the Pacific.
However, there is a third ocean on which Canada has a coastline: the Arctic ocean. The climate change of the past ten years has melted the ice caps, making the arctic navigable. Trade is already flowing from Alaska to Newfoundland through the Northwest Passage. Our navy needs to be prepared to fight in the Arctic, to defend our third coastline and protect our Arctic sovereignty.
For the past ten years, the Royal Canadian Navy that once roamed the world has been reduced to a coastal defence force. Our supply depots had been emptied to feed the people, and our supply ships had been left to rust. In order to reverse this decline, the Interprovincial Executive has decided to invest heavily in naval logistics, building up supply systems and establishing better charts of the now-flooded coastline. We hope to soon gain be able to project power around the world.
