Communist Party of New England Edict 1957.a.1; NERCQ
People’s Daily
A sweeping declaration was made by Chairman Ron last night which shocked the NEPA. A unanimous vote held by the Standing Committee permitted the New England Revolutionary Council to expand one more member, with Quebec being chosen as the seat. It is expected that CPNE cadres will have already arrived and established a temporary headquarters in the city of Sherbrooke by the time this edition of the Daily has been distributed.
Public committee records reveal that, despite the unanimous vote, hesitation was shown by both Comrade Mard and Comrade Childers during discussion. When asked by editors of the Daily, Comrade Childers expressed his concern for what a Quebecois seat on NERC would spell for the future of the nation, taking into account the victories on the front. If there is to truly be a new communist entity in America, following the CPNE, then what precedent precludes the Standing Committee from expanding across the Hudson, or Lawrence?
