Overview
At the last Moldavian Presidential Elections, Oleksandr Dzebren was out, and Rabu Borjian was in. This represented the exchanging of a populist expansionist form of Moldavian hegemony, with a conservative-nationalist insular one.
Over the past five years, however, critics assertions that "Borjianism" is really just a slightly diluted "Dzebrenism" have rung true. Moldavia's borders now extend to the Dnieper Delta, subsidies came back for a couple of years fir farming communities, and Moldavian participation in the international arms market, continues to be substantial. Moldavians got richer, faster, under Dzebren, so why not go for it?
The Catch
Only, Dzebren didn't stand. Instead, his protégé and understudy, Stefan Munteanu, did, and won.
Charismatic, young, and appealing to designs on greatness for a historically marginal people, Moldavians flocked in. The win %was marginal - 52% to 47% - but decisive. Out with the book men, in with the dreamers.
Under Munteanu's stated goals, the Dnieper is just the start. The dream is for a representative confederacy which grants regional autonomy to the core geographically distict areas of the country. Recognising that the East-West and North-South divides in the nation do tend to proliferate anyway, Munteanu is promising swift changes to that effect.
The swift effect actuation of this policy and rapid expansionist, are all due to make sweeping changes very soon.
